Our office hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The office is closed on Fridays. To reach a pastor when the office is closed, please use the Pastoral Care Line 519-379-1752. This phone line is always open if you have prayer requests, need care, or would like a visit. Please note: beginning on February 5, our office will be open Monday – Friday.

If you have information that needs to be included in our bulletin, please have that to the church office no later than Thursday at 9:00 a.m.

HMC EVENTS

U18 NEWS: Senior Youth kicks off on Friday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m. Mid-Week & Jr Youth will resume on Wednesday, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. Permission forms for Snow Camp (February 9-11, for Jr & Sr Youth) are in the foyer, outside the library.

All ladies are invited to a Ladies Social “High Tea” to welcome Shannon Hildebrandt on Wednesday, January 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Upper Room. We will enjoy social time and some games to get to know each other better.  Please bring your own tea cup, a friend, and a fun “high tea” snack to share. Also consider dressing for the occasion. Use your imagination!

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please continue to pray for Pastor Lyndsay. She will be remaining in the UK until at least the end of January to be with her mother after the passing of her father. Please pray that she would find rest and peace as she grieves with and cares for her family.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Matt and Sam Chittick who welcomed Josiah Christopher on January 6! If you’re interested in helping these new parents by providing a meal, Kristina Dyck has set up a ‘Meal Train’ for the next week. Go to www.mealtrain.com/trains/r369e2 to sign up, or contact the church office.

WORDS OF THANKS

Thank you to the Ladies Social team for organizing last Sunday’s soup luncheon! And thank you to everyone else who brought along sandwiches and desserts to share.

If you’re hanging on to offering envelopes from previous years, please discard them. Many numbers have been changed and it’s important to keep this straight for our Receipt Coordinator. Please only use your currently dated envelopes, or the pew envelopes.

It’s a new year and we are updating our database. Please take a moment today to check (or add) your information on the sheets in the foyer, and make any necessary changes.

ARE YOU TECH SAVVY or WILLING TO LEARN? We find ourselves in desperate need of more volunteers in our sound booth. Wayne  has moved away from the area, leaving us without a regular computer operator and fill-in sound person. Roger  has been a selfless and dependable volunteer in the booth for years now, but it’s not a job he can or should do alone. We are looking for people willing to learn the sound board and/or the computer (running announcement and worship slides). Training will be available. Please contact the church office if this is an area you can see yourself serving in.

Installation of our New Lead Pastor

On Sunday, January 7, 2018 we officially welcomed our new lead, Pastor Dave Hildebrandt. Regional Minister John Cressman led the installation. Thank you to our congregation for embracing Dave and his family and please keep them in your prayers as Dave settles into his new role, leading HMC as we move forward in this new chapter.

Daily Prayer Request – Tuesday, January 9, 2018

Pray for Good to Prevail over Evil. Pray for protection for our HMC church body from the attacks of the enemy. Help us be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves as we deal with spiritual forces around us. Show us how to test every spirit to see if it is from God. Help us recognize the enemy’s counterfeits and schemes so that he won’t outwit us.

Run The Race – Sermon Video

KEY IDEA:

Run for the gold!

Hebrews 12:1-2

1) You need to be on the team!

Citizenship matters.

2) You need to train.
a) Look at the game tapes. 1 Tim 4:7-8
b) Be right with the coach.
3) Follow the successful methods of others.
a) The example of other athletes.
Witness: Martus – Martyr; those who after his example have proved the strength and genuineness of their faith in Christ by undergoing a violent death.
b) Trust the coach’s winning record.

SO WHAT??

Are you on the track, going for the gold? Everyone is not a winner just for showing up.

Hebrews 12:1-2 New International Version (NIV)

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Daily Prayer Request – Monday, January 8, 2018

Pray for our Young at Heart leaders and members. Pray that we would be wise enough to tap into their wisdom and that they would be encouraged to share. Pray that whether strong and active or increasingly frail, their lives would be a testimony of the faithfulness of God. Pray for the measureless honour that one of them would take up the challenge of praying by name for you on a regular basis. Pray that we would find ways to express our respect and our love to them.
