Daily Prayer Request – Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Pray for Men in Action. Pray that this ministry will build our men in their faith. Pray that they will be in right relationship with God and each other. Pray for men to love their wives as Christ loved the church, and to instruct their children with patience. Pray that they would hold each other accountable and support and encourage each other.

Daily Prayer Request – Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Pray for our Seniors. Thank God for every gray hair attained by righteous living. Pray that they be willing and Godly mentors, so that all can be blessed by their Christian example and ability to train us. Help us to be humbly submissive as we benefit from their wisdom and understanding. Pray that they receive the strength and power God promised to the weary and weak. Pray that they will put their hope in the Lord and be renewed in the process.

Missions Opportunity Have you ever considered joining a volunteer missions team? Sue McDougall is taking a team to Peru, April 27-May 7, 2018. See the poster by the missions board in the foyer or talk to Sue for more details.

ARE YOU TECH SAVVY or WILLING TO LEARN? We find ourselves in desperate need of more volunteers in our sound booth. Please contact the church office if this is an area you can see yourself serving in.

Daily Prayer Request – Wednesday, January 17, 2018

Pray for our Worship Teams. Pray for inspiration among music leaders that would help us prepare our hearts for worship. Pray that we would enter into song and worship, would consider the message, and would exalt our great God. Pray for more God-gifted volunteers who would lead in praise and worship and walk faithfully before the Lord.

Sold Foundation 101: Know Me – Sermon Video

KEY IDEA: (Matt 7:24-27)

A strong foundation makes a strong house.

What is our Mission:

1) Be the church.

2) Do church stuff as the church.

Good deeds by themselves are just that. Good deeds that are done to glorify God and bring to someone the knowledge and reality of God’s love are God deeds.

3) It has to be personal.

a. It affirms community participation.

b. It leads to passionate ownership.

Matt 7:21-23 – Know God

1) An ancient religious wake-up call.

i.Were all about the strict observance of the Law of Moses.

ii. Strict observance meant new laws that were not from God.

iii. Observance of the law became an image thing.

iv. Choosing image over God prompted hypocrisy. (Matt 7:15-20, 15:8-9)

2) A present day reality check.

Eph 2:8-9

i. Jesus will become the centre of your life.

ii. Jesus will change the way you live your life in a visible way.

QUESTION TO THINK ABOUT: Can I say that I truly know God, or do I just think I do? What does it mean to truly know God to me?

Matthew 7:21-27 New International Version (NIV)

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Daily Prayer Request – Monday, January 15, 2018

Pray that HMC stands fast in the Lord. Pray that our HMC family will be rooted and firm in our faith. Pray that we will grow in our knowledge of the Bible and our trust in God, so that false teaching and subtle sins cannot get a grip on our minds. Pray that the Holy Spirit be welcomed among us and His rebuke received as an act of love.
