HMC EVENTS

Our Jr and Sr Youth are gearing up for Snow Camp (February 9-11). Permission forms are on the reception desk in the foyer, or online under our EVENTS tab – registration deadline is today.

Young at Heart will gather on Thursday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. with special guest speaker, Pastor Dave. Tickets for the hot luncheon are available in the foyer for $16.

Our next Building Connections time will be a Cupcake Sunday on February 18. Plan to bring along a plate of cupcakes to share and let’s gather after the service to celebrate and thank all those who have given so much of their time and energy to the ministries of the church.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Our Condolences to Dave and Marjorie Danton on the passing of Dave’s mother last Monday. Please pray for the family as they mourn their loss.

Our condolences to the family and friends of Helen Boyington, who went home to be with Jesus on January 24.

Please pray for Emmett Willms, great-grandson of Frank and Anna Ewald. Three-year-old Emmett suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy and is now fighting the RSV virus which causes major difficulty breathing. Pray for Emmett, his parents, Josh and Alisha, and for the doctors at BC Sick Kids Hospital.

Please pray for those in our congregation who are dealing with various illnesses and health concerns. Pray for peace and healing as they face these things.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE

Mom’s and Tot’s is looking for another volunteer to hang out with the children while the mother’s meet each Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. If you’re interested, but not yet certified, don’t let that stop you! Let us know, and we can get you step up.

Coffee with Pastor Dave! We are changing up our bulletin formatting to allow for larger font.This means we will be using larger paper and returning to a folded bulletin. If you’re free on Friday’s at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Dave will be brewing up a pot of coffee and folding bulletin’s in the Admin Centre—he would love if you’d come and join him!

All ladies are invited to a Ladies Social “High Tea” to welcome Shannon Hildebrandt on Wednesday, January 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Upper Room. We will enjoy a social time and some games to get to know each other better. Please bring your own tea cup, a friend, and a fun “high tea” snack to share. Also consider dressing for the occasion. Use your imagination!

The Men in Action G2G group is beginning a 14 week video series called Love and Respect, a great study for any man looking to improve his marriage (or a single man who hopes to make a great husband one day). Join them on Thursday nights at 7:00 in the Upper Room for a half hour video followed by discussion.

A Men in Action Work Bee/Breakfast will be on Saturday, January 27 in Auditorium A/B. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. For those who are able and willing to come at 7:30 a.m. there will be a variety of odd jobs to tackle around the facility. Please sign up in the foyer.

They are looking for about 20 ladies who are willing to bring a large pot of soup or chilli, and also some ladies who are willing to help set up and clean up. Please pray for the Shelley family. Amos’ Grandma Robertson has been moved into palliative care, and Faith’s mother is in the hospital with complications relating to diabetes. Pray for peace as they care for both families, that they would rest assured in God’s goodness, and that through it all they would find time to enjoy the Christmas season with their children.

Plan to stay after the service today for a Building Connections Dessert Potluck. Stick around to enjoy a treat and get to know one another better.

Reflect and Rekindle – take a little bit of time on Tuesday December 19 or Wednesday, December 20 to work through four different stations that will be set up in the overflow and sanctuary. This is a quiet opportunity for you to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and escape the rush of the holidays.

Our Senior Youth will be delivering Christmas baskets to the Owen Sound paediatric ward on Christmas Eve Day. This is a reminder to all senior youth to be at HMC for the Sunday morning service at 10:00 a.m.in order to catch your ride.

Join us at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve for a special candlelight service.

The Hanover Salvation Army needs volunteers to stand with their Christmas Kettles. They’re looking for people to take a two hour shift between 8 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. until December 23. Everyone is invited to a Sleigh Ride & Carol Sing on Wednesday, December 13 at 6:30. There will be hot chocolate, crafts, and treats. Invite your friends and neighbours!

Instead of a separate event, the Ladies Social will take place in conjunction with the sleigh ride and caroling on December 13. The group will help with hot chocolate, crafts, and treats. It’s a great opportunity to get better acquainted with our HMC family.

The Young at Heart are getting into the Christmas spirit on Thursday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m. with a special performance by pianist and singer, Tim Harden, followed by a delicious Christmas dinner. See Nelles in the foyer today to purchase a ticket for $16.

Next Sunday is the U18 Christmas Service. All children and youth who are involved are asked to please attend a rehearsal on Saturday, December 16 at 10 a.m.

Last Chance! The U18 Crew and the Missions Planning Team are inviting the whole congregation to participate in their Christmas Basket Extravaganza! Consider donating some items for gift baskets that will be delivered to the people of Saugeen First Nation Reserve near Southampton, where our missionaries, Stan & Sally Bragg, are running an important ministry. We want to bless Pastor Dave and his family as they settle into their new life in Hanover. There is a collection box in the foyer where you can drop off local gift cards and certificates to bless the family. Considers things like restaurants, grocery stores, gas cards, etc. The box will remain available until December 17.

Do you have a heart for youth and hockey? Bruce Martin runs an after-church floor hockey ministry and needs a helper. If this is something you might be interested in volunteering for, please speak with Bruce or Pastor Amos.

CO-CREATING THE FUTURE OF THE EMCC: EMCC President, Rev. Kervin Raugust is inviting all members and adherents of EMCC Churches across Canada to join in an exercise to co-discover, co-dream, and co-design the future God has in mind for our denomination. A survey has been developed as a convenient way for you to provide insight into where we as a family of churches and where God is calling us to go. Please consider taking a few minutes to complete the survey. There are paper copies available in the foyer on the information table, or you can access it online at emccsurvey.ca. The deadline for this survey is December 5.

The Hanover Salvation Army needs volunteers to stand with their Christmas Kettles. They’re looking for people to take a two hour shift between 8 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. until December 23.
