It’s Welcome Back/Building Connections Sunday! Plan to stay around after the service for a potluck meal in the gym — a great opportunity for us all to reconnect after a busy summer.

Mid-Week and Jr Youth are kicking things off on Wednesday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. Children need to be registered to attend. Forms are available in the foyer as well as online. (Go to the Ministries tab→U18→Mid-Week→U18 Registration.)

Sr Youth are invited to Adam & Alicia DeVisser’s (109 Concession 12 Elmwood) for a bonfire on Friday, September 22 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Parents need to be responsible for drop off and pick up. Please bring along a bag of chips to share.

Save the date! Students in grade 7 & 8 should set aside September 22-24 for Jr Pitch—a weekend camping retreat in Stayner. Forms are available in the foyer and online. The early bird deadline has passed but there’s still opportunity to register!

Karen Schmalz’s G2G group will begin on Wednesday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the upper room.

U18 Welcome Back Drop In for Mid-Week & Jr Youth. Hey parents, plan to join in the fun on September 27 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Meet the leaders, see the space, learn what’s going on this year, and have a cupcake! This is a whole family event and there will not be child-care for your kids.

A Sacred Rhythms G2G group will be starting soon on Wednesday evenings, open to men and women. Stay turned for more details!

OPPORTUNITIES

Youth, do you sing or play an instrument and have a heart for worship? Mike Harloff is hoping to build a youth team to help with Sunday morning worship. If you’re interested or have questions, please connect with Mike at mikeharloff@hotmail.com or call/text 519-731-3542.

We are looking for volunteers to join our tech crew! If you’d be willing to sit in the sound booth once a month and run the computer (song, announcement, and sermon slides) please let the church office know.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Kaia Kontrimas on her retirement! May God bless you richly, Kaia, as you enter this new stage in your life!

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please continue to pray for those among our congregation facing health concerns.

Please continue to remember the Pastoral Search Team in your prayers. Pray for wisdom and discernment as they make important decisions regarding the future of HMC.

There is a booklet of prayer requests specific to the needs of HMC available in the foyer, or by speaking with Karen Schmalz or Brian Austin. Alternatively, if you’d like to receive daily prayer reminders delivered to your email, you can sign up at eepurl.com/cM9ZVj

Reminder: some people in our congregation are very sensitive to scent. Please refrain from using perfume when you join us for worship.

As new G2G groups are formed we are looking to create some more comfortable areas within our building for meetings. Do you have a sofa or comfy chairs you would be willing to donate?

We’re also looking for a coffee table for our foyer. If you can help with providing any of these items, please connect with the church office.

Consider signing up for pre-authorized giving. Forms are available in the foyer and online.

Life in the Spirit – Sermon Video

John 14:15-21New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[a] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
