OPPORTUNITIES

Have you felt led to help the people affected by Hurricane Irma? Although the EMCC website doesn’t have a specific site for this disaster, Joel Zantingh (Interim Director of World Partners) suggests two options. 1.) The Disaster Relief Fund on the EMCC website allows you to donate towards the ongoing needs in the world (emcc.ca/engage/support-a-global-project/relief-and-development-projects/emcc-disaster-relief-r-d-10) or 2.) Visit the Red Cross website and make a donation. Thank you for helping those in need!

Meals on Wheels. Every nine weeks it is our turn to deliver meals to people requiring this service. It takes approximately thirty minutes to an hour on the day of your choice and requires you to carry light packages. You can choose to travel in pairs or on your own. Please connect with Brenda Kaufman to volunteer. 519-364-6113.

The Annual YFC Banquet is coming up and they are looking for volunteers to bake and donate dessert for the meal (serving approximately 200 people). If groups or individuals are interested and willing to contribute towards this goal, please connect with Greg Dow at 519-364-3316

Reminder: some people in our congregation are very sensitive to scent. Please refrain from using perfume when you join us for worship.

As new G2G groups are formed we are looking to create some more comfortable areas within our building for meetings. Do you have a sofa or comfy chairs you would be willing to donate? We’re also looking for a coffee table for our foyer. If you can help with providing any of these items, please connect with the church office.

Consider signing up for pre-authorized giving. Forms are available in the foyer and online.

Our Father’s Love

Luke 15:11-20 New International Version (NIV)

The Parable of the Lost Son

11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.

13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
