Pray for our Worship Teams. Pray for inspiration among music leaders that would help us prepare our hearts for worship. Pray that we would enter into song and worship, would consider the message, and would exalt our great God. Pray for more God-gifted volunteers who would lead in praise and worship and walk faithfully before the Lord.
Sold Foundation 101: Know Me – Sermon Video
KEY IDEA: (Matt 7:24-27)
A strong foundation makes a strong house.
What is our Mission:
1) Be the church.
2) Do church stuff as the church.
Good deeds by themselves are just that. Good deeds that are done to glorify God and bring to someone the knowledge and reality of God’s love are God deeds.
3) It has to be personal.
a. It affirms community participation.
b. It leads to passionate ownership.
Matt 7:21-23 – Know God
1) An ancient religious wake-up call.
i.Were all about the strict observance of the Law of Moses.
ii. Strict observance meant new laws that were not from God.
iii. Observance of the law became an image thing.
iv. Choosing image over God prompted hypocrisy. (Matt 7:15-20, 15:8-9)
2) A present day reality check.
i. Jesus will become the centre of your life.
ii. Jesus will change the way you live your life in a visible way.
QUESTION TO THINK ABOUT: Can I say that I truly know God, or do I just think I do? What does it mean to truly know God to me?
Matthew 7:21-27 New International Version (NIV)
True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

Pray for Unity in the Spirit. Pray that we will all have a similar desire to see God’s will done through and in HMC. Pray against satan’s tricks being used in our midst e.g hurts, anger, unforgiveness. Pray that we would keep our eyes on God’s leading and trust Him to sort out the things we don’t understand.

Pray that HMC stands fast in the Lord. Pray that our HMC family will be rooted and firm in our faith. Use your imagination!
PRAYER REQUESTS
Please continue to pray for Pastor Lyndsay. She will be remaining in the UK until at least the end of January to be with her mother after the passing of her father. Please pray that she would find rest and peace as she grieves with and cares for her family.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Matt and Sam Chittick who welcomed Josiah Christopher on January 6! If you’re interested in helping these new parents by providing a meal, Kristina Dyck has set up a ‘Meal Train’ for the next week. Go to www.mealtrain.com/trains/r369e2 to sign up, or contact the church office.
WORDS OF THANKS
Thank you to the Ladies Social team for organizing last Sunday’s soup luncheon! And thank you to everyone else who brought along sandwiches and desserts to share.
If you’re hanging on to offering envelopes from previous years, please discard them. Many numbers have been changed and it’s important to keep this straight for our Receipt Coordinator. Please only use your currently dated envelopes, or the pew envelopes.
It’s a new year and we are updating our database. Please take a moment today to check (or add) your information on the sheets in the foyer, and make any necessary changes.
ARE YOU TECH SAVVY or WILLING TO LEARN? We find ourselves in desperate need of more volunteers in our sound booth. Wayne has moved away from the area, leaving us without a regular computer operator and fill-in sound person. Roger has been a selfless and dependable volunteer in the booth for years now, but it’s not a job he can or should do alone. We are looking for people willing to learn the sound board and/or the computer (running announcement and worship slides). Training will be available. Please contact the church office if this is an area you can see yourself serving in.
Daily Prayer Request – Friday, January 12, 2018
Pray for our G2G Groups. Pray that our leaders live Godly lives. Pray that they take great care with God’s Word, and that the hearts of those in the groups would be fertile soil for that Word.
Daily Prayer Request – Thursday, January 11, 2018
Pray that we would learn to seek God with ALL of our heart, soul, mind and strength. Pray for a renewed hunger for His presence in our lives.
Installation of our New Lead Pastor
On Sunday, January 7, 2018 we officially welcomed our new lead, Pastor Dave Hildebrandt. Regional Minister John Cressman led the installation. Thank you to our congregation for embracing Dave and his family and please keep them in your prayers as Dave settles into his new role, leading HMC as we move forward in this new chapter.
Daily Prayer Request – Wednesday, January 10, 2018
Pray that we would hunger and thirst for the things of God—for righteousness. Pray that God would confront our complacency and somehow stir an intense desire in us to draw closer to Him.
Daily Prayer Request – Tuesday, January 9, 2018
Pray for Good to Prevail over Evil. Pray for protection for our HMC church body from the attacks of the enemy. Help us be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves as we deal with spiritual forces around us. Show us how to test every spirit to see if it is from God. Help us recognize the enemy’s counterfeits and schemes so that he won’t outwit us.
