Solid Foundation 103 – Know Me: The Word — Sermon Video

Acts 2:42-47 New International Version (NIV)

The Fellowship of the Believers

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Key Idea:

A strong foundation makes a strong house.

—If we are to be a church built on the foundation of Jesus Christ…
—And we are motivated by God’s mission for us to ‘Gather and Go”, then…

The Bible needs to be central and authoritative as we follow God’s will for us

Why the Bible?

1) It is our GPS.
Psalm 119:105, 119:130

2) It is our back-up alarm.
Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:9-11, 2 Timothy 3:16-17

3) It is always true.
Isaiah 40:8

4) It is God Himself.
2 Timothy 3:16, John 1:1

Daily Prayer Request – Tuesday, February 6, 2018

Consider fasting in a broader context than just food. The discipline of saying NO for a short time to something we cling to makes saying NO to other things easier. Think of coffee, chocolate, TV, computers, I-Phones. If you have never fasted before, try a 12 hour fast initially. Spend a moment or two in prayer each time the craving pulls. Although it is ideally a private decision between you and God, challenging one or two others to team up with you for the same time period can be helpful.

Daily Prayer Request – Monday, February 5, 2018

Pray for the courage to consider fasting.

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.” —Joel 2:12-13
